PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Over 400 minority interns have been placed into marketing, advertising, media and broadcast agencies and departments throughout Southern California. More than 175 of our interns have been hired into full-time positions. Here's how the program works.

Educational Qualifications
  • Must be a minority of Alaskan Native, Native American, Asian, African-America, Hispanic or Pacific Islander descent
  • Current college or university enrollment as a junior, senior or Masters candidate.
  • Recent graduates may apply if their graduation date is no more than 6months from the application session.
  • Candidates must have a 2.7 or higher cummulative GPA to apply for the program

APPLICATION PROCESS

 

1. Applications are due in the office by 5pm on the deadline date. Yes you may stop by and drop them office, mailed in and in some cased emailed to meghna@matprogram.org. But please DO NOT FAX THEM and try to mail them in.

2. Recommendation letters can either be mailed, emailed to meghna@matprogram.org or faxed to 310-823-7325. Please address the letter to either MAT Program Directors or Meghna Kothari, Executive Director.


3. If you cannot obtain your official transcripts by the application due date, please include unofficial transcripts in your application and order the officials ones to arrive, they should arrive by your interview date.

 

INTERNSHIP SELECTION PROCESS 

 

1. Each application will be reviwed by the MAT Board before you are selected for the interview process. 

2. If you are selected for the interview, each candidate will interview with ONE board member on the interview date that is confirmed with you. All candidates will be interviewed on the Saturday at one location.

3We have internships open at various advertising/marketing companies throughout the LA area and in various departments. Your interview will help us to determine if we will be able to match you in an internship and what is the best opportunity for you based on your skill set and interest.


4. If your MAT interview goes well, then we will match you up for an internship. 
 ****Please note you are not automatically accepted into the program or hired for an internship until the agency confirms. The agencies/companies make the final decision on hiring candidates.****

 Internship Details

  • All internships are paid $9 p/h
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Interns are paid directly through the company that they are interning for
  • Interns must work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the internships period
  • Each internships is 13 consecutive weeks from your start date
  • Your start date is determined by you and the agency

 MAT/Saatchi & Saatchi Scholarship

  • $2500 to fund educational needs
  • Open to exceptional MAT interns and alumni
  • Scholarship recipients will be actively involved with and promoting MAT
